ARIPIPRAZOLE IS THOUGHT TO ACT MAINLY BY BEING A ‘ PARTIAL AGONIST ’ FOR THE RECEPTORS FOR THE NEUROTRANSMITTERS DOPAMINE AND 5-HYDROXYTRYPTAMINE (ALSO CALLED SEROTONIN). IT IS THOUGHT THAT OLANZAPINE’ S BENEFICIAL EFFECT IS DUE TO IT BLOCKING RECEPTORS FOR THE NEUROTRANSMITTERS 5-HYDROXYTRYPAMINE (ALSO CALLED SEROTONIN) AND DOPAMINE. IT IS THOUGHT THAT OLANZAPINE’ S BENEFICIAL EFFECT IS DUE TO IT BLOCKING RECEPTORS FOR THE NEUROTRANSMITTERS 5-HYDROXYTRYPTAMINE (ALSO CALLED SEROTONIN) AND DOPAMINE. IT WORKS BY PREVENTING THE NEUROTRANSMITTERS 5-HYDROXYTRYPAMINE (ALSO CALLED SEROTONIN) AND NORADRENALINE FROM BEING TAKEN BACK UP INTO NERVE CELLS IN THE BRAIN AND SPINAL CORD.
