EN 1801 IRLANDA SE UNIÓ AL REINO DE GRAN BRETAÑA CREANDO ASÍ EL REINO UNIDO DE GRAN BRETAÑA E IRLANDA HASTA 1922.
MÁS TARDE, CON EL ACTA DE UNIÓN DE 1800 LA ISLA DE IRLANDA PASÓ A FORMAR PARTE DEL PAÍS, POR LO QUE EL NOMBRE CAMBIÓ A REINO UNIDO DE GRAN BRETAÑA E IRLANDA.
DE ACUERDO AL ACTA, INGLATERRA Y ESCOCIA SE CONVIRTIERON EN UN SOLO REINO LLAMADO GRAN BRETAÑA EL 1 DE MAYO DE 1707.
ACTUALMENTE INGLATERRA SE ENCUENTRA DIRECTAMENTE GOBERNADA POR EL PARLAMENTO DEL REINO UNIDO, A PESAR QUE OTROS PAÍSES CONSTITUYENTES HAN DESARROLLADO SUS PROPIOS GOBIERNOS.
