How can you edit an Illustrator AI file that you placed as a Smart Object?
Double-click the selected graphic on the canvas.
Click Layer > Smart Object > Reset Transform.
Select the Direct Selection tool and click the edge of the graphic.
Double-click the graphic's thumbnails in the Layers panel.
